Meet the Producer: Chris from Provenir
At The Good Farm Shop, every producer we work with has a story — not just about what they grow or raise, but about the systems they’re helping rebuild. One of those people is Chris Balazs from Provenir, who many of you heard from at Gathered during our long lunch panel discussion last weekend.

Chris has spent years challenging the conventional meat processing model in Australia, even changing laws, becoming the first in the country to pioneer mobile abattoir processing on farms. It’s a practical innovation, but also a deeply values-driven one — designed to reduce stress on animals, shorten transport distances, and create a more ethical, transparent supply chain for small regenerative farms.
For us, that matters enormously.
The farms Chris works with are small-scale producers practising regenerative agriculture — farmers focused on rebuilding soil health, improving biodiversity, caring for water systems, and raising animals in ways that work with nature rather than against it. These are farms choosing stewardship over scale, quality over shortcuts, and long-term resilience over short-term yield.
But farms like these face enormous pressure.
Modern food systems are built for volume and centralisation, which can leave smaller regenerative producers struggling to access processing infrastructure that aligns with their ethics and scale. Chris recognised that gap and created a solution that supports farmers to remain viable without compromising their values.
That’s one of the reasons we choose to work with Provenir.
Supporting regenerative agriculture isn’t just about the end product on the table — it’s about backing the entire ecosystem around it: the farmers, the infrastructure, the innovation, and the people willing to do things differently.
Chris embodies that spirit. He’s thoughtful, practical, deeply connected to producers, and committed to creating better outcomes across the board — for farmers, animals, land and communities.
At Gathered, Chris spoke about the realities facing small farms today, but also about the opportunities that come when consumers actively choose to support local, regenerative producers. Every purchase becomes part of shaping the kind of food system we want for the future.
We’re proud to partner with people like Chris from Provenir who are helping make that future possible. You can shop his regenerative, ethical, 100% grass fed, traceable beef here
